Nina Wieda

Nina Wieda is an educator and higher education program leader specializing in designing innovative educational programs that respond to changing demographics, societal needs, and the evolving world of work. As Director of Chicago Field Studies at Northwestern University, she is passionate about experiential education and creating meaningful connections between academic learning and the professional world. Her work focuses on helping students develop the adaptability, judgment, and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.

Dr. Wieda has been selected for the Fulbright Specialist Program roster, joining an international network of academics and professionals who collaborate with institutions around the world on short-term, high-impact projects in education and professional practice. Through this work, she brings her expertise in experiential learning, higher education, and educational program development to international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

In November 2022, Dr. Wieda led a workshop on designing academic internship programs at the Association for Experiential Education annual conference. She was also selected as one of 19 emerging professionals from the greater Chicago area to participate in the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Emerging Leaders Program, 2020 cohort.

Dr. Wieda is interested in how educational institutions can adapt to technological change and emerging challenges. Her work has included multidisciplinary research on artificial intelligence and higher education, as well as exploration of the opportunities and challenges presented by generative AI in the classroom.
